Christmas Cards


I've never thought about making Christmas cards until I went to a crop and saw a card-making assembly line. From that moment, I began looking at handmade scrapbooking and card sites. So, guess what I’m doing…You got it. I’m making my own Christmas Cards. Because I have so much printed Christmas cardstock, I’m going to make 6 of each pattern and color. Because I like nontraditional colors, you may not see too much red and green. 

Getting started...

This is my first attempt at handmade cards.
I relied heavily on Cricut cuts and punches. "Trial and Error" are the key words for this project. 
  • Cartridge used: Winter Frolic
  • Punch used: Creative Memories 
  • Stamp used: Recollections
  • Printed Cardstock: DCWV
  • Solid Cardstock:  Various
  • Ribbon used: American Crafts
  • rhinestones: Paper Studio
  • Glitter glue: Sticlkes and Recollections
One thing I noticed while making the die cuts, (in order to get the desired effect) you have to cut 2-4 more cuts than you actually need. 

Another thing that should be considered while in the creative stage is the shadow for your finished cuts. Which I didn't consider until all of the cuts were made.

TOO MUCH GREEN! But it turned out looking alright. Only another card maker or scrapbooker would have noticed all of that green.

Nevertheless. My first attempt at handmade cards was great. The facebook response was great and I did get card orders based on the photos that were posted on facebook, tumbler, and Instagram.

So the next thing to do is make envelopes for the 7x7 cards!

The winter owl was so cute. The only difficult part was getting the right size for the front of the card. the little fella' is so cute.





I decided to make at least 1 without the cutesy owl. It was ok; but seems like its lacking something...

These blue cards are 5 x 5 1/2. The envelopes were much easier to make because I use Sentimentals.

SOC CELEBRATE #8 BLOG HOP: DAY 3

WELCOME BACK to the Scraps of Color Celebrate #8 Blog Hop I've Been Accepted!!    I can remember when my daughter and I were reading about colleges and she told me that she only wanted to go to a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) .  I was thinking, praise God TSU (Tennessee State University) here she comes. From my earliest memories of playing in the sprinklers at my Madea's row home to picking beans and tomatoes at my granny and granddaddy's home. What is summer without your family?
