SOC Celebrate #8 Blog Hop: Day 2

Thanks for Coming Back! I'm still celebrating with my SOC sisters and my daughter Alexis. I'm so very proud of her, which is why she is my focus during this celebration blog hop.   Layout 2: Supplies Paper:  Stampin Up! Paper: Me and My Big Idea Stickers: EK success Border trim: Recollections Bling: Recollections       My daughter is NOT a fan of pastel colors which is why I'm continuing with the bright colors.  I used the black Congratulations paper because I wanted to make the layout pop. I cut a large frame by using the Storybook Cricut Cartridge; set for 10 inches.  I cut it in half and inked the edges to tone down the white. I also matted and inked the stickers. Example 1: Inking and Frames   Q: How often do you ink the edges of you paper? Do you ever use inks other than browns and blacks?      I've been trying to experiment with different layouts by doing things like the large frame cut in half and adding bling in d

Let's Celebrate 8 years of Scraps of Color (Day 1 Hop)

HAPPY 8th ANNIVERSARY Scraps of Color !   Welcome to SOC's 8th Anniversary Blog Hop! I'm glad you stopped by for the celebration! If you're dropping by from  Lisa's blog, then you're in the right place! However, if you started here, you can visit the SOC E:spire blog to join this party from the beginning!      I'm from a large family and we love, love, love to celebrate.  As the years go by, our large family seems to be shrinking. Which is why scrapbooking birthdays, anniversary, graduations, family reunions and milestones are so important. My focus for this celebration blog hop will be my daughter Alexis.      Alexis is such a hardworking young lady. She is strong willed and very determined to meet her goals. I'm proud of her because she is following in the foot steps of me and my mother; minus marrying the wrong man. To date; graduating from high school has been her greatest triumph. Now she is working her way through the college of her choi

Let's Celebrate #8 Blog Hop: 8 Years of Scraps Of Color

To commemorate Scraps of Color's 8th birthday, I, along with some talented papercrafters, have teamed up to share projects based on the celebrations in our lives. We wanted to have this special blog hop to celebrate this great crafting community where we laugh, play, and create together and encourage and inspire one another. Of course, a blog hop isn't complete without blog candy! There will be giveaways on various blogs throughout the hop! Plus there will be a SOC blog hop gift awaiting one visitor!! To be eligible for that prize, you must comment on all the blogs by Monday, Oct. 8 at 11pm EST. From all who are eligible, one lucky reader will be randomly drawn. The winner will be posted on all the participating blogs on Wednesday, Oct. 10.

The Power of Words

9-30-2012 I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your seed may live -Deuter onmy 30:19 I'm finding that the more I talk to people; particularly women, they are not speaking words of life, peace and blessing. I said to a sister "I love the color of your hair". She said, "really, I need a retouch and my ends trimmed. I wish it was long like yours." I was really sincere and did like the color of her hair. Her hair really did look nice. I wonder why it is so hard for us as women to speak life; positive words. I'm convinced that we could be healed and experience the best life has to offer if we just changed our confessions.  What do you think?  Do you find that you are more prone to speak negative than positive? Gloria Copland said "If you want to receive something form God, follow His example and speak it. That's the way faith works. The older I get, the more I want to bathe in positive
