SOC Christmas in July Blog Hop: Day 3

Simple, Sweet and Thoughtful
Random Christmas Thoughts...

I've been a baker and cake decorator for over 30 years. One thing I really need all the time are oven mitts and pot holders. So guess what? My sister and son gave me oven mitts and pot holders 2 years in row. I don't require or expect much and I would rather have what I need rather than dust collectors.  I've always taught my children that when you give a person a gift; it should be practical and thoughtful. Never give a gift just for the sake of giving a gift nor should you give a gift with the purpose of establishing brownie points.

Baking and decorating cakes are my specialty; at least it was before I started scrapbooking full time. Below are pages that have been included in on a CD of random Christmas memories.

"Hip Hip Hooray"
Layout 1 & 2

This Layout is also made with non traditional colors and shares the not only my thankfulness for my new pot holders and oven mitts; but also my desert cakes.
  • Flowers are Recollections
  • Die Cuts are Kand Company
  • Stickers are Sticko
  • Bling is Want2Scrap
  • Ribbon American Crafts
  • Cricut Cartridges used are From My Kitchen and Celebrations
  • Cardstock is Paper Crafts; Printed paper is ...

"Mix Thoroughly"
Layout 1 & 2
I have 3 specialty cakes;  Lemon Cream, Carrot, and Triple Chocolate. In the layouts below are a portion of my Carrot Cake Recipe; which actually begins with a boxed cake mix.

  • Paper used is from Stampin Up!
  • Bling is Want2Scrap
  • Ribbon is Offray
  • Glitter glue is Studio G
  • Punch is from Martha Stewert
  • Ink on the edges are Close to My Heart Oak Brown
  • Cricut Cartridge is From My Kitchen

I used the glitter glue to accent the ornaments on the paper.

This large side border was made from scraps and so were many of the other page elements

I only used 1/2 of patterned paper with the baking words because I felt the layout getting too busy. I try to always use the Hit it and Quit It method on my layouts.

Today Concludes the SOC Christmas in July Blog Hop. Thank you so much for all of your kind comments and for joining my blog. Peace and Blessings

Scraps of Color "Christmas in July" Blog Hop: Day 1

My Christmas in July 2013 My Pink Journey CHRISTMAS IN JULY: DAY 1 One Sunday night (I guess it was actually early Monday morning) in July, I had a bad case of insomnia and was fooling around on eBay.  I saw that there was a bid on a new Pink Journey Cricut Expression Bundle that was about to end and the price was like 40 bucks. I was like; No way. The Bundle included 3 cartridges; one of which was the Pink Journey Champagne Rose Solution cartridge. So, I bid $56 and won the bid.  That was such a great deal simply because the Pink Journey cartridge sells for about that; at least on eBay.  Below is the layout that I created to commemorate the purchase LAYOUT 1 Solid Cardstock is Recollections Patterned Paper is Stampin Up! SOC CELEBRATE #8 BLOG HOP: DAY 3

WELCOME BACK to the Scraps of Color Celebrate #8 Blog Hop I've Been Accepted!!    I can remember when my daughter and I were reading about colleges and she told me that she only wanted to go to a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) .  I was thinking, praise God TSU (Tennessee State University) here she comes. DING-DONG-WRONG! She said that she wanted to go to Alabama A&M in Huntsville. Then the prayer wheel started turning. " Lord, you said that you would supply all of our needs according to your riches" and you said that "What things we desire, when we pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them".        Now, she had some struggles in high school and was at best a B- to C+ student . Even though she would study and work hard; she had trouble. School just did not come easy to her; but her common sense and work ethic was ON POINT. Believe that. Nevertheless, Alexis only applied to one school. She ha...

October 7, 2011: Scraps Of Color Breast Cancer Awareness Blog Hop!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month! So, in honor of this event--I, along with some talented crafter's, have teamed up to honor and celebrate the men and women in our lives that inspire us with their strength in the battle against Breast Cancer. Of course, a blog hop isn't complete without blog candy! There will be giveaways on various blogs throughout the hop! Plus, there will be an SOC blog hop gift awaiting one visitor!! To be eligible for that prize, you must comment on all the blogs by Monday, Oct. 10 at 11:00pm EST. The fight to find a cure for breast cancer is near and dear to my heart. Not only because my maternal grandmother lost her battle with breast cancer; but because my mom had a scare a few years ago.  In 2009, the Lord healed me from ovarian cancer. To God Be the glory for the things he has done. I give him praise for healing me and for the courage and hope that i received from my mom and my grandmother.  Yes, Lord we need a cure.  My prayers and ...
