SOC Celebrate #8 Blog Hop: Day 2

Thanks for Coming Back!

I'm still celebrating with my SOC sisters and my daughter Alexis. I'm so very proud of her, which is why she is my focus during this celebration blog hop.

Layout 2: Supplies
  • Paper:  Stampin Up!
  • Paper: Me and My Big Idea
  • Stickers: EK success
  • Border trim: Recollections
  • Bling: Recollections

My daughter is NOT a fan of pastel colors which is why I'm continuing with the bright colors.  I used the black Congratulations paper because I wanted to make the layout pop. I cut a large frame by using the Storybook Cricut Cartridge; set for 10 inches.  I cut it in half and inked the edges to tone down the white. I also matted and inked the stickers.

Example 1: Inking and Frames

Q: How often do you ink the edges of you paper? Do you ever use inks other than browns and blacks?

I've been trying to experiment with different layouts by doing things like the large frame cut in half and adding bling in different spots, not matting my photos and inking.  I've also discovered how to stretch my expansive paper packs and make use of all of the leftover white paper that is inside each page protector.  Because I like the feel and weight of Stampin Up! paper, I try to make it last. I cut the patterned paper and glued it to the white paper.

Example 2 "Adding Bling"
I also added a little bling for added emphasis. Not a lot just enough to bring extra attention to the borders and the title blocks.  You would be amazed at how a little bling livings up a page.  I placed bling an various places on both pages.

Q: Do you use color bling or mostly silver and gold? Do you like the scrolled bling?

THANKS AGAIN FOR VISITING!

  7. I love the bold colors on your layout and I need to use more large die cuts in my layouts like that.

  8. Very bright and lively layouts. I like to use all color bling. A tip from YouTube suggested just buying the clear and use the alcohol markers to color them what ever color you want.

  11. Great layout - I love the bright colors combined with black and white. Your pictures are so cute. To answer your questions: First, I often ink the edges of my papers. I use whatever color goes well with my project. Second, I love bling and use it often. I have colored bling. Sometimes I color the clear bling with markers.

  13. Another great layout! When I ink edges, I tend to stick with black, and brown. I have used other colors as well - I love the distressed ink colors. I love any and all bling - shapes and colors!

  14. Great layout!! I don't ink the edges to much but if I do I like my color to match even when using gems. I don't know why but everything has to match for me. Hugs AJ-

Scraps of Color "Christmas in July" Blog Hop: Day 1

My Christmas in July 2013 My Pink Journey CHRISTMAS IN JULY: DAY 1 One Sunday night (I guess it was actually early Monday morning) in July, I had a bad case of insomnia and was fooling around on eBay.  I saw that there was a bid on a new Pink Journey Cricut Expression Bundle that was about to end and the price was like 40 bucks. I was like; No way. The Bundle included 3 cartridges; one of which was the Pink Journey Champagne Rose Solution cartridge. So, I bid $56 and won the bid.  That was such a great deal simply because the Pink Journey cartridge sells for about that; at least on eBay.  Below is the layout that I created to commemorate the purchase LAYOUT 1 Solid Cardstock is Recollections Patterned Paper is Stampin Up! SOC CELEBRATE #8 BLOG HOP: DAY 3

WELCOME BACK to the Scraps of Color Celebrate #8 Blog Hop I've Been Accepted!!    I can remember when my daughter and I were reading about colleges and she told me that she only wanted to go to a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) .  I was thinking, praise God TSU (Tennessee State University) here she comes. DING-DONG-WRONG! She said that she wanted to go to Alabama A&M in Huntsville. Then the prayer wheel started turning. " Lord, you said that you would supply all of our needs according to your riches" and you said that "What things we desire, when we pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them".        Now, she had some struggles in high school and was at best a B- to C+ student . Even though she would study and work hard; she had trouble. School just did not come easy to her; but her common sense and work ethic was ON POINT. Believe that. Nevertheless, Alexis only applied to one school. She had faith that th

SOC Hot Fun in the Summertime Blog Hop

06/22/2012   Summertime Memories and Family      Aahhh, summertime is here. Summer has soooo many fun memories for me. From my earliest memories of playing in the sprinklers at my Madea's row home to picking beans and tomatoes at my granny and granddaddy's home. What is summer without your family? Family vacations, cookouts, pool parties, and decoration day at the family cemetery are the memories we need to preserve . For me its about family and the memories we are making for the next generation. Since I started scrapbooking seriously in 2003, I've become the keeper of the family photos.         What is your earliest summertime memory? Was it eating watermelon on the porch and spitting seeds? Was it a special summertime fling? Was it the first summer that your baby walked for the first time? I would love to know.  Family Fun in the Park.   Page 1 of 2 {Family cookout for my son before he went to college. This was his "Orange and White" party.} I di
