Sisters and Sisterhood

When sisters stand shoulder to shoulder, who stands a chance against us?  ~Pam Brown

What Can I say about sisters and sisterhood?  My younger sister and I are very close. While growing up, times were sometimes hard and filled with tears.  The way we grew up; James and Florida Evans were rich.  We had a nice modest home in a new subdivision; but behind the closed doors of our nice home, we were lacking in several areas.  My dad was juggling 2 or more families and there was never enough money to make the ends meet. Nevertheless, me, mom and my sister trusted in the Lord.  I also have to older sisters that, regardless of the circumstances of our births, we are close.  A few years ago, I found that I had yet another sister. Don’t even ask…
But, does blood relationships make you a sisterhood? I’ve read several definitions of sisterhood and looked at many sites on the subject.  (Please don’t look up Sistahood on the internet; you will get some pretty seedy links, NONE OF WHICH REFER TO ME AND MY BEAUTIFUL SISTERS).  So after reading the many definitions of sisterhood along with my own idea, a solid sisterhood can not be a blood relative. Natural sisters are nice and help each other because that is what family does; it's a obligation.  If my hair is busted and my shirt is to tight, my sister will not tell me.  But, my best girlfriend will say, "gurl, you missed it on that one, take that $$#! back!" She will see your man out doing wrong, will tell you the details, and plan a ninja attack with you.
Girlfriends

A real picture and example of sisterhood, is like the women of Girlfriends.  This show took a look at the lives, loves, and losses of four different women and 1 man; Toni, Maya, Lynn, William, and Joan

Sisterhood is a group of sisters that are as different as night and day, share a genuine love and respect of the differences that make us unique.  I have 4 sister-friends in my girl pack.  Over the next 3 days, I will introduce you to my girl pack .

Sister 1: Shirley Shaw.  Shirley and I have know each other for over 35 years.  We went to the same church, lived in the same part of town, godmother to each others children, work together, and one day co-owners in a catering business. Shirley has my back and will tell me the truth.

Example 1: this lay out was created with DCWV (Spring 2007 stack) patterned paper.  I also used the program and the invitation to the luncheon to help tell the story.
Example 1b: I used raffia ribbons to accent the colors at the luncheon and the patterned paper. I love to tear paper; it gives the page more dimension. Raffia is very nice and inexpensive.

Example 2: This is the 2nd page of the 2 page layout. I made the butterflies and the vines with the Storybook Cricut cartridge and Recollections flowers from Michaels. I also used the place card because I thought it would accent our placement at the table.  Look at those boxes! Those boxes contained our lunch.

Example 2b.

Scraps of Color "Christmas in July" Blog Hop: Day 1

My Christmas in July 2013 My Pink Journey CHRISTMAS IN JULY: DAY 1 One Sunday night (I guess it was actually early Monday morning) in July, I had a bad case of insomnia and was fooling around on eBay.  I saw that there was a bid on a new Pink Journey Cricut Expression Bundle that was about to end and the price was like 40 bucks. I was like; No way. The Bundle included 3 cartridges; one of which was the Pink Journey Champagne Rose Solution cartridge. So, I bid $56 and won the bid.  That was such a great deal simply because the Pink Journey cartridge sells for about that; at least on eBay.  Below is the layout that I created to commemorate the purchase LAYOUT 1 Solid Cardstock is Recollections Patterned Paper is Stampin Up! SOC CELEBRATE #8 BLOG HOP: DAY 3

WELCOME BACK to the Scraps of Color Celebrate #8 Blog Hop I've Been Accepted!!    I can remember when my daughter and I were reading about colleges and she told me that she only wanted to go to a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) .  I was thinking, praise God TSU (Tennessee State University) here she comes. DING-DONG-WRONG! She said that she wanted to go to Alabama A&M in Huntsville. Then the prayer wheel started turning. " Lord, you said that you would supply all of our needs according to your riches" and you said that "What things we desire, when we pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them".        Now, she had some struggles in high school and was at best a B- to C+ student . Even though she would study and work hard; she had trouble. School just did not come easy to her; but her common sense and work ethic was ON POINT. Believe that. Nevertheless, Alexis only applied to one school. She had faith that th

SOC Hot Fun in the Summertime Blog Hop

06/22/2012   Summertime Memories and Family      Aahhh, summertime is here. Summer has soooo many fun memories for me. From my earliest memories of playing in the sprinklers at my Madea's row home to picking beans and tomatoes at my granny and granddaddy's home. What is summer without your family? Family vacations, cookouts, pool parties, and decoration day at the family cemetery are the memories we need to preserve . For me its about family and the memories we are making for the next generation. Since I started scrapbooking seriously in 2003, I've become the keeper of the family photos.         What is your earliest summertime memory? Was it eating watermelon on the porch and spitting seeds? Was it a special summertime fling? Was it the first summer that your baby walked for the first time? I would love to know.  Family Fun in the Park.   Page 1 of 2 {Family cookout for my son before he went to college. This was his "Orange and White" party.} I di
