Throwback Thursday

WHAT IS THROWBACK THURSDAY? Throwback Thursday is very popular on Instagram, and users often tag their photos with a variety of hashtags like #TBT, #ThrowbackThursday or just simply #Throwback. Adding these hashtags can help get photos more exposure from a wider audience of people who are searching through those tags.

Well, today's Throwback Thursday consist of my first scrapbook layouts; between 2000-2003. As many of my followers may know, I taught myself to scrapbook by accident while creating decorative folders for my Sunday School students. Hon-ey, I can admit that I have messed up so great photos. I used Elmer's school glue, colored copy paper, and construction paper, glitter pens and my trusted decorative scissors and plastic shape stencils. I was doing the thing.

check out my use of scissors and creative lettering for the names of my students. I did some great fussy cutting; back then it was silhouetting photos.

The stickers were from LifeWay and the Parent Teacher Store.

Evidently I had a new circle punch because I was working it. LOL I must say I was creative in my photo placement. I may have been more creative back then. I guess the more gadgits you accumulate the less creative your become.

I really enjoyed my students. I purchased snacks, toys, musical instruments, and lots of art supplies for this class. Even though I had children of my own, I loved each of them as if they were my own children.

Check out this layout. It is a hot mess. LOL

Aww, look at my babies praying. I taught them to sing, pray, and to praise God.
I wonder where all of the children are now?

Yep, this has been an awesome Throwback Thursday. Please comment and share your first scrapbook layouts and cards.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month! Of course, a blog hop isn't complete without blog candy! There will be giveaways on various blogs throughout the hop! Plus, there will be an SOC blog hop gift awaiting one visitor!! To be eligible for that prize, you must comment on all the blogs by Monday, Oct. 10 at 11:00pm EST. The fight to find a cure for breast cancer is near and dear to my heart. Not only because my maternal grandmother lost her battle with breast cancer; but because my mom had a scare a few years ago.  In 2009, the Lord healed me from ovarian cancer. To God Be the glory for the things he has done. I give him praise for healing me and for the courage and hope that i received from my mom and my grandmother.  Yes, Lord we need a cure.  My prayers and ...

SOC Celebrate #8 Blog Hop: Day 2

Thanks for Coming Back! I'm still celebrating with my SOC sisters and my daughter Alexis. I'm so very proud of her, which is why she is my focus during this celebration blog hop.   Layout 2: Supplies Paper:  Stampin Up! Paper: Me and My Big Idea Stickers: EK success Border trim: Recollections Bling: Recollections       My daughter is NOT a fan of pastel colors which is why I'm continuing with the bright colors.  I used the black Congratulations paper because I wanted to make the layout pop. I cut a large frame by using the Storybook Cricut Cartridge; set for 10 inches.  I cut it in half and inked the edges to tone down the white. I also matted and inked the stickers. Example 1: Inking and Frames   Q: How often do you ink the edges of you paper? Do you ever use inks other than browns and blacks?      I've been trying to experiment with different layouts by doing things like t...

Scraps of Color "Christmas in July" Blog Hop: Day 1

My Christmas in July 2013 My Pink Journey CHRISTMAS IN JULY: DAY 1 One Sunday night (I guess it was actually early Monday morning) in July, I had a bad case of insomnia and was fooling around on eBay.  I saw that there was a bid on a new Pink Journey Cricut Expression Bundle that was about to end and the price was like 40 bucks. I was like; No way. The Bundle included 3 cartridges; one of which was the Pink Journey Champagne Rose Solution cartridge. So, I bid $56 and won the bid.  That was such a great deal simply because the Pink Journey cartridge sells for about that; at least on eBay.  Below is the layout that I created to commemorate the purchase LAYOUT 1 Solid Cardstock is Recollections Patterned Paper is Stampin Up!
