Christmas Cards

I've never thought about making Christmas cards until I went to a crop and saw a card-making assembly line. From that moment, I began looking at handmade scrapbooking and card sites. So, guess what I’m doing…You got it. I’m making my own Christmas Cards. Because I have so much printed Christmas cardstock, I’m going to make 6 of each pattern and color. Because I like nontraditional colors, you may not see too much red and green.

Getting started...

This is my first attempt at handmade cards.
relied heavily on Cricut cuts and punches. "Trial and Error" are the key words for this project.
  • Cartridge used: Winter Frolic
  • Punch used: Creative Memories
  • Stamp used: Recollections
  • Printed Cardstock: DCWV
  • Solid Cardstock:  Various
  • Ribbon used: American Crafts
  • rhinestones: Paper Studio
  • Glitter glue: Sticlkes and Recollections
One thing I noticed while making the die cuts, (in order to get the desired effect) you have to cut 2-4 more cuts than you actually need.

Another thing that should be considered while in the creative stage is the shadow for your finished cuts. Which I didn't consider until all of the cuts were made.

TOO MUCH GREEN! But it turned out looking alright. Only another card maker or scrapbooker would have noticed all of that green.

Nevertheless. My first attempt at handmade cards was great. The facebook response was great and I did get card orders based on the photos that were posted on facebook, tumbler, and Instagram.

So the next thing to do is make envelopes for the 7x7 cards!

Let me know your thoughts on the traditional colors, layers, and the over all presentation.

Nontraditional Colors for my cards

Here we go again...the blue is my mom's favorite.
  • Printed Cardstock: Echo Park
  • Solid Cardstock: Darcy (the WORST)
  • Cartridge: Winter Frolic
  • Punch: Creative Memories
  • Glitter Glue: Stickles

  • Rhinestones: Paper Studio
  • Stamp and Ink: Recollections
The winter owl was so cute. The only difficult part was getting the right size for the front of the card. the little fella' is so cute.

I decided to make at least 1 without the cutesy owl. It was ok; but seems like its lacking something...

These blue cards are 5 x 5 1/2. The envelopes were much easier to make because I use Sentimentals.

I would love to read your comments and see your cards as well. Post them on my facebook page.

Much Love,
Scrappin Chick!

Of course, a blog hop isn't complete without blog candy! There will be giveaways on various blogs throughout the hop! Plus, there will be an SOC blog hop gift awaiting one visitor!! Not only because my maternal grandmother lost her battle with breast cancer; but because my mom had a scare a few years ago.  In 2009, the Lord healed me from ovarian cancer. To God Be the glory for the things he has done. I give him praise for healing me and for the courage and hope that i received from my mom and my grandmother.  Yes, Lord we need a cure.  My prayers and ...

SOC Celebrate #8 Blog Hop: Day 2

Thanks for Coming Back! I'm still celebrating with my SOC sisters and my daughter Alexis. I'm so very proud of her, which is why she is my focus during this celebration blog hop.   Layout 2: Supplies Paper:  Stampin Up! Paper: Me and My Big Idea Stickers: EK success Border trim: Recollections Bling: Recollections       My daughter is NOT a fan of pastel colors which is why I'm continuing with the bright colors.  I used the black Congratulations paper because I wanted to make the layout pop. I cut a large frame by using the Storybook Cricut Cartridge; set for 10 inches.  I cut it in half and inked the edges to tone down the white. I also matted and inked the stickers. Example 1: Inking and Frames   Q: How often do you ink the edges of you paper? Do you ever use inks other than browns and blacks?      I've been trying to experiment with different layouts by doing things like t...

Scraps of Color "Christmas in July" Blog Hop: Day 1

My Christmas in July 2013 My Pink Journey CHRISTMAS IN JULY: DAY 1 One Sunday night (I guess it was actually early Monday morning) in July, I had a bad case of insomnia and was fooling around on eBay.  I saw that there was a bid on a new Pink Journey Cricut Expression Bundle that was about to end and the price was like 40 bucks. I was like; No way. The Bundle included 3 cartridges; one of which was the Pink Journey Champagne Rose Solution cartridge. So, I bid $56 and won the bid.  That was such a great deal simply because the Pink Journey cartridge sells for about that; at least on eBay.  Below is the layout that I created to commemorate the purchase LAYOUT 1 Solid Cardstock is Recollections Patterned Paper is Stampin Up!
