Late Night Inspiration

So, It's after 11pm and I'm still awake. You may be thinking, ummm, it's not late. But if you know me, then you know that I'm usually tucked in by 9pm (unless it's Thursday night). I'm up thinking about the upcoming RSC Fall Crop & Retreat. Even though we have a plan in place, I'm still brainstorming. What's that all about? So I decided to work on an "I Can Alter That" activity.

So we start with the LifeWay VBS tote.  Supplies needed: Black Acrylic paint, Mod Podge, foam brushes, 3-5 sheets of 12x12 paper, a bone folder and embellishments.

Paint one side of the tote;  from the edges about 2 inches: wait about 20 minutes for side A to dry; turn the tote over and paint the side B. While waiting for the paint to dry, you can measure and cut your paper. Cut a half moon from your top ends of your 12x12 paper or use a wide corner punch. Cut the corners from 2 sheets of paper. Cut a 3rd sheet in thirds (3- 3x12 strips).

Prepare you paper and embellishments while you are waiting for the paint to dry. after you have cut your paper, fold the bottom of your paper, horizontally, 2 inches. This is to partially cover the bottom of the tote.

**unless you want to take the time to take the handle off; I suggest that you paint it. Paint  6 to 8 inches. Let dry for about 15-20 minutes.

Take this time to gather your embellishments, get some ice cream or call a friend.

Paint the outer edges of your tote and also the inner edges (all of the brown parts; not the white)

Paint Pod Podge onto the tote and then place your paper on top. once the paper is in place, you will need to smooth the paper from the inside out. use a credit card or or the mod podge smoothing tool. Turn the tote over and do the same with side B. Don't forget the bottom of the tote as well.

Add your embellishments! You may use the remaining 12x12 sheets to cover the inside.  That's all for now. I'll work on it some more tomorrow.

Duces & Good Night!

Scraps of Color "Christmas in July" Blog Hop: Day 1

My Christmas in July 2013 My Pink Journey CHRISTMAS IN JULY: DAY 1 One Sunday night (I guess it was actually early Monday morning) in July, I had a bad case of insomnia and was fooling around on eBay.  I saw that there was a bid on a new Pink Journey Cricut Expression Bundle that was about to end and the price was like 40 bucks. I was like; No way. The Bundle included 3 cartridges; one of which was the Pink Journey Champagne Rose Solution cartridge. So, I bid $56 and won the bid.  That was such a great deal simply because the Pink Journey cartridge sells for about that; at least on eBay.  Below is the layout that I created to commemorate the purchase LAYOUT 1 Solid Cardstock is Recollections Patterned Paper is Stampin Up! SOC CELEBRATE #8 BLOG HOP: DAY 3

WELCOME BACK to the Scraps of Color Celebrate #8 Blog Hop I've Been Accepted!!    I can remember when my daughter and I were reading about colleges and she told me that she only wanted to go to a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) .  I was thinking, praise God TSU (Tennessee State University) here she comes. DING-DONG-WRONG! She said that she wanted to go to Alabama A&M in Huntsville. Then the prayer wheel started turning. " Lord, you said that you would supply all of our needs according to your riches" and you said that "What things we desire, when we pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them".        Now, she had some struggles in high school and was at best a B- to C+ student . Even though she would study and work hard; she had trouble. School just did not come easy to her; but her common sense and work ethic was ON POINT. Believe that. Nevertheless, Alexis only applied to one school. She ha...

October 7, 2011: Scraps Of Color Breast Cancer Awareness Blog Hop!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month! So, in honor of this event--I, along with some talented crafter's, have teamed up to honor and celebrate the men and women in our lives that inspire us with their strength in the battle against Breast Cancer. Of course, a blog hop isn't complete without blog candy! There will be giveaways on various blogs throughout the hop! Plus, there will be an SOC blog hop gift awaiting one visitor!! To be eligible for that prize, you must comment on all the blogs by Monday, Oct. 10 at 11:00pm EST. The fight to find a cure for breast cancer is near and dear to my heart. Not only because my maternal grandmother lost her battle with breast cancer; but because my mom had a scare a few years ago.  In 2009, the Lord healed me from ovarian cancer. To God Be the glory for the things he has done. I give him praise for healing me and for the courage and hope that i received from my mom and my grandmother.  Yes, Lord we need a cure.  My prayers and ...
