2/10/12 JOURNEY TO 50: PART 1
Peace and Blessings everyone. I'm on my road to 50. So, I've decided to scrapbook and journal the journey. I've gathered all of what I think have been my mountain moving experiences up to this day. I am a writer by nature; which means that I journal every day. My journaling is one of the ways I pray to God. Yep I pray through writing to the Lord. He does not count spelling and I can vent through words on to the paper.
I recently went through my journals between 1996-2000, just to see where I was back then. (*pause for a moment of silence) My mountains were multiplying. Faced with mounting financial problems, health issues, 2 small children, broken down car, and the threat of eviction. You get my drift? I had the right to give up and turn away from God because from the outside, it looked like he had forgotten about me and my children. However, during that time, you can count on 1 hand the people who knew about what I was going through. As a matter of fact it was 3 people; my Pastor, Ms. Emma, and my son. It was only until I was hanging on by a thread that I asked for help. Pride? Maybe, I was trying to be strong.
God has given us power to speak to our mountains. He as also promised to give us wisdom. I've been medicating on Matthew 21:21-22. The word clearly reads that we must have faith, not doubt, and say to the obstacle "get some Gone!" Moving a mountain seems impossible; but through Jesus Christ we have the ability to speak to the hard situations, have faith and expect them to be gone; in the name of Jesus. Speak to your mountain; not running to everybody telling them about your mountain. Tell you mountain about your God and how big He is.
I went back to college in 2000 to earn my paralegal degree. Praise God, he gave me strength to work a full time job, attend day and evening classes, and still take care of my children. I guess they got a degree too because I took the with me to call in the evenings.
Layout details: the patterned paper was from JoAnn's ETC. The cardstock of Paper Studio; Hobby Lobby. The embroidery floss is Janlyn Cotton. I also used my craft scissors to create a nice double mat.
The decorative scissors add so much to the simple the 3-page layout.
Paper tearing is a great technique to use when you have a limited amount of patterned paper. I also like to use this technique when the paper is busy so that it will not take away from the picture or the message your are trying to convey.

Cyndi, what a powerful testimony! It reminds me of that song, "Look Where He Brought Me From..." You've got me thinking/reflecting today! Great LO too!
